Fue fundado el 17 de noviembre de 1917, después de haberse desprendido de Santa Rosa de Aguán. Playas extensas, un mar infinito, ríos, cuevas, montañas y un pueblo Garífuna hospitalario, hacen de este municipio una identidad.
One of the most important parts of traveling is talking to locals and understanding the place through their eyes. Perspectives matter a lot, and the way you might experience a place might be different from what it actually might be. It’s more about absorbing the place for its vibe, rather than just climbing up a mirador to watch a sunset. Learning about the place and how it came to be what it is in the present is quintessential to every travelers’ growth and mind. Talking to locals, visiting traditional markets and bookstores, reading more than just the lonely planet...there are so many beautiful ways to unravel your travels 💗 🧳 🧭 ✈️ #Colombia 🇨🇴 #travel#traveldiaries2019#cartagena#cartagenadeindias#atlanticcoast#marcaribe#caribbeansea#colonialcities

Pictures can be deceiving! Let us explain...
We just spent 4 blissful days in St. Lucia for our other job—and yes, the beaches really were this empty. 🤤 No surf breaks, but the Caribbean Sea was perfectly still for some nice paddleboarding sessions.
However, on the other side of the island, the one that hugs the Atlantic, the effects of climate change were severe... and wickedly smelly. Dead seaweed and fish from rising sea temps have been washing up on shore thanks to changing tides—completely covering the beaches and emitting a smell so rancid, it lingers in your nose for miles.
As a tropical oasis that relies on tourism, this is an urgent problem for St. Lucians—and yet another warning alarm for the rest of us. We have to do more, and fast.
Bacalar is one of the most stunning places in Mexico. This little town sits next to a beautiful blue lagoon.
The lagoon is commonly known as the "Lagoon of Seven Colors" due to the seven different shades of blue that can be seen in it. A mix of fresh and saltwater covering pure white sand and limestone creates a spectrum of bright, clear blues and turquoises
❝Home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams. The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back. Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends❞
QOTD: What do you consider your true home?
Birth • Location • Home
In colloquial [American] English, if you ask someone where they are “from” they might decide to answer with either their birthplace location, their current location, or where their heart is located — the true home. Many times we [Americans] are judged for answering in those ways, but just imagine a scenario where the food, language, music, cultural references, traditional clothing, family values are different from the country you live in than what you practice inside your house. That’s how many of us Americans live.
I used to [and in some ways still do] have an identity crisis of where my home truly was. As a first-generation Haitian American, I was never fully one or the other; yet for some reason our society makes us feel we must pick a side. I couldn’t because in reality it was both. My house is built on American soil, but my heart was at the bottom of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea.
And that’s okay.
Multiple places can make us feel at home. Which is why we have the ability to answer the question is so many ways. When you’re in a space with your closest friends that can be your home. When you are traveling to a country where all of your family is from. Even though you experience that for the first time, it can feel right at home. Where you were born, raised, and continuously want to live because it’s all you known can always be your home.
Home is subjective, something that comes from the heart. And anyone should feel proud to say where that is.
