PCT day 80: Zero in Cascade Locks. 22nd July.
We get up early to hitch to Hood River to resupply at cheap old Walmart and pick up Andy's new shoes after a whopping 1250 miles of use (which he's extremely proud of, the guys in the shop were apparently very impressed). When I stick my thumb out a bus turns the corner and pulls over. Turns out there's regular 1 dollar buses all over this valley that can be waved down - great to see affordable public transport. The driver even gives Andy instructions for the connecting bus to his shoe shop and drops me off at Walmart. I'm secretly pleased to be able to spend as long as I want browsing the aisles but then Andy texts me a picture of himself sipping coffee saying the store doesn't open until 10. The one time he goes to a cafe and I'm not there! After a quick Dominos pizza and four huge cupcakes we get the bus back to Cascade Locks and spend a good hour organising and repacking resupplies and then posting our food box to Mazama. Then I hit a wall. The last three days knock me sideways and I don't feel I can hike today. I suggest staying in camp and Andy doesn't want to but agrees. Both tired, we end up having an argument and then talking it out - I've been feeling increasingly depleted and the 12-hr hiking days have just pushed my body over the edge today. In the moment I feel like stopping altogether - I'm exhausted, I want to see my family and I feel like I can't keep going without proper breaks. These low moments come to every hiker. You have to feel the feelings and let it out. We are extremely privileged to be doing this but that doesn't mean you're going to feel fantastic every day - some days you just feel empty and numb. This isn't a call for sympathy btw, just an honest diary and I hope other hikers feel they can be honest too as I think there's some stigma about the mental struggle of trail. #pct2019#pacificcresttrail#thruhike#pctthruhike#hiking#trail#pctig#womenwhohike#pctsobo#trekthepct#liveoutdoors#adventureisoutthere#hiketheworld#hikertrash#thetrek#werehikers#hikemore#hikerlife#rei1440project#thegreatoutdoors#backpacking

I haven't had a lot of time to edit photos of my own adventures recently, but oh it brings me so much joy to create while I am doing things I love outdoors! This shot makes me feel like I captured real life beauty and joy. ✨

If you can’t tell from my bloated belly it was a weekend of eating, drinking, and celebrating one of my dear friends get married 👰❤️
It’s been 3 weeks since the McRib incident and it is feeling 1000000x better than even last week. Can’t wait to start being active again 🙌🏻 (the climb to this lake is super simple but a real struggle when you’re injured 😭)

Dengan berpetualang adalah caraku kembali untuk menemukan diri saat semesta serasa berkhianat untuk menggagalkan semua keinginanku.

I don’t like my body. Before I had this picture taken, I asked my husband, “do I look fat from the back?” Maybe I do, but I like this picture. This body takes me on so many adventures! We have visited at least one National Park every summer since we got together. This body takes me hiking up mega mountains. This body took me on a long bike ride through the Badlands. This body has completed 3 marathons. This body houses quite a cool girl, and even though I don’t always like the packaging, I’m trying my best to love myself and keep taking myself on adventures. Love yourself! You’re worth it.
Today, my Alaska grown “Bad Girl Slim” (LUNA) invaded my only Alaskan wildflowers section. Yesterday’s hike was 🥵 for my poor pupper, and the Boy, he had to take some break from Fortnite, not by choice, so hiking was three times longer than it should be. Me? Still living the dream.🥴🍷
