💥|TIPS: How to Manage the Heat Waves for Your Heart | ~ written with heart patients in mind ❤
Feeling a bit overheated in this beautiful but rather hot weather? I feel you -😭! While many of us get excited to be outdoors all day! It's so important to take care of yourself in this heat- especially if you have a heart condition.
💛 How does heat affect the heart? .
Swollen ankles, heart palputations, dehydration, dizziness, shortness of breath- shallow or fast, sweating more ,heat stroke, vomiting, nausea, struggling to cool down? Time to see your GP if you are worried ❤
💧! We all sweat to control our body temp, and in hot weather we sweat more meaning that we lose more fluids. Which may potentially drop your BP. Making you feel an energetic low. .
How to Keep cool? .
💥Hydrate M8!!! 🙌💧 Keep hydrated! This is so key! .
💥Wear light, loose fitting cotton clothes. (The tighter the close the more heat you will hold in)
💥 Stay out of the hottest part of the day between 11am-4pm and if you are outside find shade. .
💥 Avoid drinking lots of caffeine and alcoholic drinks. They can cause dehydration, causing more fluid loss.
💥 You may not feel like eating as our appetite drops when it's warmer. Make sure you fuel on cold foods, such as salads and fruit which have higher water content and are good sources of vitamins and minerals 🍉
💥 Make sure your home and workplace are cool when indoors. .
💥Avoid extreme physical exercise. Especially outside...no outdoor HITT classes please ✌
💥 Make sure you apply sunscreen, wear a hat and ALWAYS carry water! 😊

Creating space is something that I have been working with this year. In the broadest sense of the word. Creating space for myself to breathe. Creating Space to share what I love by creating new classes and retreats. Creating Space to connect to what it is I need. Physically, Mentally and Creatively.
Mavayu is one of the beauties that grew from my longing to create Space and being able to do it with one of my best friends. And how lovely it is that while creating a Space where Marie and I can share our love for Yoga with you, we are also trying to create Space for YOU. Yesterday I felt the sadness of my man being away and the grief of losing Blanks bubble up in my heart space. Feeling this with an intentional immensity and sitting with it is hard, but beautiful at the same time. I sit with feelings of melancholy very well because I respect the surge of creativity that arises from this, and also because I know that when we allow this to flow through the heart it moves up into our higher energetic spaces and OUT into the universe! Heavy feelings now transmuted into feelings of bursting gratitude 🙏🏾✨

Had a lovely but also eventful day yesterday. Revised, sat in the sun and got some general admin done but then also spent a good couple of hours climbing in and out of my car window, melting in the car and trying to find out where the bloody hell you attach jump leads to on a hybrid car 😬
Whilst I ended up missing two of my yoga classes I was meant to teach, I did have the bonus that I got to enjoy the sunny evening a little longer than I usually would. So you know... That frown did get turned upside down! ✨
Usually this is the kind of thing that would have stressed me out so much but thankfully now I tend to see the funny side. Mainly because if I constantly get stressed out about this kind of stuff aka LIFE, I'm going to be stressed pretty much 24/7 💫
Try and see the positive today when anything crops up that isn't ideal. And see how your day changes with you 🥰

It is important not to rush into difficult asanas- take your time to reach into the final pose - using support like blocks if necessary. This will ensure the right use of muscle groups and the right balance of strength and flexibility. Also do not be afraid to modify the pose- it is important to respect and honour where you are in the practice and go forward from there ❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼

Practicing gratitude 🙏🏼
Sometimes we get so caught up in our routines that we forget to be grateful for what we have. The extraordinary seems normal and we stop appreciating what we have. We stop being conscious and forget how lucky we are.
Since a few days, I started to integrate gratitude meditation at the end of my morning practice, just to remember how lucky I am.
Gratitude for the food I receive every day.
Gratitude for my body that carries me through life and all its beautiful experiences.
Gratitude for my friendships, my family. I am blessed to have so many loving people helping me and supporting me no matter what.
Gratitude for my house.
Gratitude for being born in a country where as a woman I am free to do what the f**** I want.
Gratitude for life.
Gratitude for every day, every moment, every opportunity to learn.
Gratitude for the lows that let me appreciate the highs.
Gratitude for the love I can give and the love I receive.
Since I do this, I observed that my day became slightly better. New Post Alert (How cooling your bum also cools your mind 😂😂) I'm kidding - but if you have trouble meditating then read on... I know so many people who would love to meditate for all its benefits (reducing stress, gaining clarity, creativity, peace, joy, feeling abundant - the obvious ones) BUT
they don't know where to start.
If you feel the same way, then read on.
I want to demystify it for you.
The most common misconceptions are thinking that you need to 'empty your mind' or 'be thoughtless'. That seems to be the biggest turn off for most people because when we sit down in silence, we really become aware of HOW active our mind really is. We go through about 60,000 thoughts a day!
Naturally, thougut of emptying our mind seems too difficult or impossible, and we give up.
HERE'S WHAT IT'S NOT.
Literally speaking, meditation is not something you can 'do' - it is a state you get into when the mind becomes quiet.
Just like sleep. The more you 'try', the harder it is.
HERE'S WHAT IT IS
I'm not going to go into the different types of meditation in this post, but to put it simply -
Unwavered concentration on a single object results in meditation.
That object could be anything - but ideally should be something that elevates you 🙂
It could be a mantra, your breath, an image of your chosen deity, or a feeling - like peace or abundance or love.
For beginners, the easiest ones are a mantra (like Om), or just following the breath.
The most important thing to remember, is to EXPECT your mind to wander.
Because it will.
Dont get annoyed, or irritated, or think 'this is not for me'
Instead, be proud and acknowledge that you recognised that your mind has wandered (this is progress in itself!)... and simply bring it back to your attention of focus.
Again. And again. And again.... Soon, youll be able to concentrate for much longer, and enter a meditative state - where you are aware that youre in that state - but your mind is empty - its just pure, silent, peaceful, awareness!

This is me in my early days of yoga. I've practiced yoga on and off for about 4 years, and it wasn't until early last year that I got more serious about it. After doing yoga, I feel so much calmer, my thoughts are more controlled, and I feel much more in tune with myself.

Assi Ghat is the southernmost ghat in Varanasi,offcourse to the majestic and peaceful Ganga or Ganges river. To most visitors to Varanasi, it is known for being a place where BHU students, foreign students, researchers, and tourists live. Assi Ghat is one of the ghats often visited for recreation and during festivals.
This is my final memory of Assi Ghat as of now, just looked back before leaving and saw this . That's it !! Clicked while walking ,mobile phone rocks !
